If your PS5 powers on (white light, fan spinning) but the TV says No Signal, the cause is usually the HDMI port or the chip behind it. HDMI repair is the most common PS5 job on our bench, in Omaha, in Lincoln and by mail.
Signs your PS5 HDMI port is damaged
- No picture on any TV or cable, although the console turns on
- The picture only appears when the cable is held at an angle
- The port feels loose, sits crooked, or has bent or missing pins
- The picture flickers or cuts out, or there’s audio with no video
- The console was dropped or pulled off a stand by its cable
Try these first (free)
- Use the HDMI cable that came with the PS5, and try a different TV input.
- Boot in Safe Mode (hold power until the second beep) and choose Change Video Output.
- Look into the port with a flashlight. If a pin is bent or the center tongue is cracked, stop plugging cables in. Each attempt can short the pins.
What the repair involves
This is a soldering job, not a part swap. We open the console, remove the shield, desolder the damaged port with hot air, clean the pads, solder on a new port, and inspect every pin under magnification. If the port was forced, we also check the HDMI retimer IC (the “HDMI chip”), which can fail with no visible damage to the port. Then we test 4K output on a known-good display.
Watch out for previous bad repairs
We regularly fix PS5s with lifted pads or torn traces left by a cheap HDMI job elsewhere. These can often be saved with trace repair, but they take longer. If someone else has already opened your console, tell us when you bring it in or mail it.

Can a PS5 HDMI port be repaired, or do I need a new console?
In almost all cases the port can be replaced on the motherboard. Pad or trace damage from a previous repair attempt can usually be fixed too.
Does replacing the HDMI port erase my games?
No. HDMI repair doesn’t touch the internal SSD, so your games and saves remain.
My PS5 port looks fine but there is still no signal. What now?
