Cartridge save batteries

Many cartridges from the ’80s to the early 2000s (Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal, Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Mario RPG and others) keep saves on SRAM backed by a CR2025 or CR2032 coin cell, now 20–35 years old. When it dies, saves vanish at power-off. We solder in a new tabbed battery rather than taping a coin cell in.

Important: on most SRAM carts, replacing the battery erases the existing save. If your save still loads, tell us before we start. Gen 3 Pokémon (Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald) use the battery only for the clock, so the save survives.
